The climate of our area and that of the Middle East is very similar. Just north of the community garden, we have planted a specialty garden called the Biblical Garden, featuring plants mentioned in the Bible. This includes pomegranates, figs, olives and dates along with more exotic shrubs, like mastic. Each plant is labeled with its scientific name, common name, usage and a citation from the Bible that features the plant. This garden has a sandstone seat wall and benches designed for solitude and reflection.
It is a great place to escape the bustle and noise of the surrounding area.
